Antique Edwardian Napoleon III Made in France Cotton Drawstring First Communion or Wedding Purse

From France and dating to the early 1900s or so, may I offer this First Communion purse, First Communion pouchette, First Communion pouch, First Communion lace bag that would have adorned the wrist of a young girl on her special day. Entirely hand stitched from a light cotton fabric, the crochet-like lace overlay feels like a lightweight cotton. The cord around the top also feels like cotton. The blue ribbon rose is just something I added to give it a little bit of color. It can be removed with a few snips of the thread.

Condition is very fine for its age! A light patina of age to the fabric.  I can see only one loop (where the cord goes through) that needs mending. No holes. No inner lining - just the outside muslin - never was one I suspect. No holes in the lace. Really, it could be used today.

Size: Height is 8-1/2" (without the cording); width is 5-1/4". There is no gusset along the side - just two pieces of fabric sewn together. The purse was meant to carry small gifts presented to the child. Well, that, and money. With that in mind, the piece could be used for a wedding today.
